A wireless microphone is a radio communication device, and its signal transmission and reception are subject to regulations governing the use of spectrum resources. Therefore, when entering the market of any country or region, such products must comply with local regulations and technical standards concerning electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), radio frequency (RF) performance, and electrical safety, and obtain the relevant certification before they can be legally sold.
For wireless microphones intended for export to Japan, manufacturers are required to obtain TELEC certification. This is a mandatory conformity assessment system for telecommunications equipment in Japan. It is implemented under the Radio Act (電波法) by a Registered Certification Body (RCB) authorized by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), and serves as a prerequisite for market access in Japan.
The application process mainly consists of three stages:
