I. Introduction to PSE Certification
PSE certification is a mandatory certification in Japan, covering safety and EMI, used to prove that electrical and electronic products comply with the of the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act or international IEC standards. The Japanese Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act stipulates that 457 types of products must pass safety certification to enter Japanese market. Among them, 116 types of specified electrical appliances must obtain the diamond-shaped PSE mark, and 341 types of products other than specified electrical must obtain the circular PSE mark.

III. PSE Certification Document Preparation
1. Application Submission Documents: Relevant application forms
2. Test Preparation Documents
(1) CB Report (including's difference test)
(2) Layout
(3) PCB design drawings related to safety standards
(4) Specifications for transformers and coil components
(5) List critical components and their certificates
(6) Japanese user manual or assembly manual

3. Test Samples Provided: Depending on the application standards and certification, typically 5pcs are provided if there is a CB report, and 10pcs if there is no CB report.
IV. PSE Certification Validity Period
Diamond PSE Certificate: 3 years, 5 years, or 7 years (depending on the specific product)
Circular PSE Certificate Usually issued by factory self-declaration or test reports from third-party laboratories/certification bodies
V.Product Certification Process
1. Certification Application and Acceptance
Submission of application materials: Product technical data (circuit diagrams, BOM, manuals), key component, and existing certification certificates.
Acceptance review: GTS reviews the materials; once complete and compliant, an acceptance notice is issued and the certification agreement is signed.
2. Testing
Sample submission: The enterprise prepares qualified samples (usually 2-3 units) as required by the certification body and sends them to the GTS laboratory; specific sample requirements are with the laboratory.
Full testing: The laboratory conducts standard testing based on the corresponding national standards for the product (such as electrical safety, EMC electromagnetic compatibility, wireless performance, etc and issues a type test report.
Rectification and retesting: If the test fails, the enterprise must rectify the product and resubmit samples for retesting until the test passes
