Robot Vacuum Export to the US for FCC Certification, Standard FCC Part 15B: GTS Provides the Application Process

1. GTS "Robot Vacuum FCC" Application Process for Clients

1. Project Classification

• Basic Robot Vacuum​ (motor + sensors + wired/IR remote only) → FCC SDoC
   
• Smart Robot Vacuum​ (APP/Cloud/Voice/Bluetooth pairing/Dual-band Wi‑Fi) → FCC ID
   
• Wireless Charging Dock:​ The dock is evaluated under Part 15B; if the dock also contains wireless transceivers, an FCC ID is required.

2. Preliminary Registration (FCC ID Only)

• Register FRN via FCC CORES.
   
• Obtain a Grantee Code for first-time applicants.
   
• Non-U.S. companies must appoint a U.S. Responsible Party / Agent.
   

3. Documentation Preparation

• English User Manual (including FCC warning statements).
   
• Schematics, PCB layout diagrams, Block Diagram, and BOM.
   
• Antenna specifications (gain, radiation pattern, cable loss).
   
• Internal and external photos, label artwork (FCC ID: XXXX-YYYYY).
   
• If using pre-certified modules: provide module grant + integration instructions.
   
• 2–3 engineering samples (for RF testing).
   
• Complete set of accessories (charger, base station, charging case, etc.).
   

4. Laboratory Testing

• EMC:​ Conducted emissions, radiated emissions (Household equipment evaluated under Class B).
   
• RF:​ Output power, 20 dB bandwidth, occupied bandwidth, frequency tolerance, spurious emissions.
   
• Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth:​ FCC Part 15.247.
   
• 5 GHz:​ DFS, TPC, U-NII rules.
   
• RF Exposure:​ MPE/SAR evaluation (Robot vacuums typically fall under MPE; however, body-worn/handheld accessories must be checked).
   

5. Report Issuance + TCB Review (FCC ID)

• Laboratory issues the test report.
   
• Submit to TCB: Form 731, Authorization Letter, Confidentiality Letter, User Manual, Photos, Label, etc.
   
• TCB issues Grant → Obtain FCC ID.
   
• Lead Time:​ Testing takes 2–3 weeks + TCB review takes 1–2 weeks. Overall, reserve 4–6 weeks; if passed on the first attempt, 3–5 weeks is also common.
   

6. Shipment Compliance

• Print FCC ID on the product body and packaging.
   
• Include FCC Part 15 compliance statements in the user manual.
   
• Retain SDoC documents and test reports (SDoC generally requires 5+ years retention; FCC ID technical files require permanent archiving).
   
• Platforms (Amazon/Walmart) audits can verify the FCC ID database.
