Technical Standards EU: EN 15194 "Cycles - Electrically power assisted cycles - EPAC Two-wheel cycles" 03. Technical Requirements The EU's new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (MD) came into effect on December 29, 2009. This directive applies to mobile machinery, mechanical devices, machines for transporting people, and safety components. It is a mandatory certification for the EU market. The standard requires a rated voltage not exceeding 48V, a maximum cut-off speed not exceeding 25km/h, a maximum continuous power not exceeding 250W, and a minimum saddle height of at least 635mm. It applies to private or commercial use. The complete vehicle must comply with the MD Machinery Directive, EN 12100 risk analysis, the WEEE Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment, the RoHS Directive on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, EMC electromagnetic compatibility, and the REACH regulation on chemicals. 04.
